The purpose of the Adolescent IOP program is to provide a comprehensive program of substance abuse services for adolescents and their families who lack insurance coverage or the financial resources to obtain private treatment for residents of Montgomery, Elmore, Autauga, and Lowndes counties. It is a highly structured, varied discipline and holistic approach to treatment involving a sixteen (16) week program addressing stabilization, recovery, relapse prevention, and continuing care. The program involves assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, drug testing, substance abuse education, family issues, HIV/STD education, family therapy, family education, and physical activities. The Goals for client in our adolescent IOP program are: 1) Abstinence from the use of alcohol or drugs 2) Acceptance of responsibility for actions and choices 3) Gain acceptance and overcome ambivalence 4) Join and age appropriate and problem specific self-help support group 5) Reduction in the risk of contracting HIV/STDs 6) Development of important life skills e.g. coping and decision making 7) Reduction in the risk for pregnancy 8) Remain in school or re-enter the work force 9) Increase social/emotional support network 10) Development of healthy roles and boundaries in the family
